woman wins million dollar house in $2 auction

Mum who is struggling to sell her $950k six-bed mansion is raffling it off for $2 a ticket

The sprawling home is completely redecorated but hasn’t received any offers since going on the market

A HARD up Mum struggling to find a buyer for her luxury mansion is flogging it in a raffle – for just $2 a pop.

Keira Low is hoping to sell half a million tickets to raise the equivalent asking price for six-bed house in Calgary.

The 37-year-old has fallen on hard times and the palatial home is going to be repossessed if she doesn’t sell it.

She said: “When we looked around it I fell in love with its grandeur and size. I don’t think it would look out of place in somewhere like London.

“It’s size is incredible, and I just knew I would be able to do so much with the space.

Keria bought the home in 2011 for $635,000 after falling in love with it

After putting it on the market and not receiving any offers, she decided to raffle it off

The family home features a ballroom and enough parking for six cars

“After we moved in, it turned into a huge project. I thought it would just need a lick of paint, but there was so much that needed doing.

“It had been a hotel at one point, so there were en suite bedrooms in every room, but no family bathroom. It was hard work but enjoyable.”

The sprawling six-bed home has a cinema room, ballroom, new family bathroom and kitchen and parking for six cars.

She snapped it up for $635,000 in 2011 but put it on the market three years later for $800,000.

After receiving no offers, the family put it up for sale again $845,000 in December but have only had one viewing since – despite dropping the asking price to half a million.

The Mum, who lives with husband Michael, 32, and their two children Ozzy, five, and Dylan, 15, then had the brainwave of making it a raffle prize.

Kiera has already raised $1,500 and has even had interest from Australia, Italy and America.

She says most people are spending up to $20 on tickets, but has heard from one man who is planning to buy $1,000 worth.

Kiera said: “After talking to many estate agents and quick buy companies, we believe it is in our best interest to take the sale of our property into our own hands, whilst offering someone else to the opportunity to own and enjoy the property as their own.

“I had been thinking about doing this on and off for a few years now but so far hadn’t acted.

“I knew that people had done this before but had problems, and I needed to make sure everything was above board and legal.”
