Nurse Emma Shaw, 32, went to her mum’s home to collect her festive footwear but found an unwanted present as well
A TK Maxx shopper who ordered Christmas party heels claims she had a stinky surprise in the box when it arrived.
Nurse Emma Shaw, 32, went to her mum’s home to collect her festive footwear but found an unwanted present as well.
The mum-of-two said the “smelly” substance was sitting in the corner of the box and appeared to resemble faeces.
But it was thrown out by the Shaw family so it has never been conclusively identified.
The discount high-end brand retailer has since apologised and offered a voucher and full refund, stating an ‘internal investigation’ had been launched since the delivery was made last month.
Emma, who lives with her husband Steve, 37, and two boys George, seven, and three-year-old Stanley, said she was stunned to find the strange add-on with her £130 shoes.
Emma, from Bridgnorth, Shrops, said: “It was inside the sealed bag, inside the sealed box so we have no idea how it got in there.
“It was smelly but sort of dried as well so we could be thankful it wasn’t too pongy.
“I actually ordered some designer shoes, but these were more like ‘Jimmy Poos’ you could say.
“Luckily no kids opened the box or anything as there could have been a health hazard from whatever the substance was.”
In an email to the Shaws a customer service representative from TK Maxx wrote: “I am truly sorry that you had to experience this.
“Due to the serious nature of this case an internal investigation will be launched.
“I sincerely hope that you (or (sic) no other customer) has to experience a problem like this again.”
Emma and her husband accepted the voucher and refund from TK Maxx and she has since worn the shoes to a Christmas party.
